This year’s festival was curated by the African Diasporic Art Museum of Atlanta (ADAMA). ADAMA will use the ELEVATE exhibitions to highlight issues of cultural capital. ADAMA executive director Fahamu Pecou notes, “The concept of Cultural Capital provokes a dynamic conversation around ideas of community, access, memory, and development. As developers make plans to reimagine Pittsburgh, we will explore the often overlooked yet deeply embedded cultural resource of one of Atlanta’s oldest neighborhoods- it’s people. Cultural Capital explores the very real, fragile, and human stories embedded in communities like Pittsburgh and its past, present, and future.”
